About Me
I live near Cleveland, Ohio–my hometown. I’m married to my best friend, the mother of 3 of his children, a stepmother of 4 adults, a step-grandmother of 2 going on 3, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a great aunt of 1, and a 20-year-plus, Nam-myoho-renge-kyo-chanting member of the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) Buddhist association. My favorite song is “Solsbury Hill” by Peter Gabriel.
I write. A lot. I read, but not nearly as much as I want to. My lastest book? A young adult novel titled Vegan Virgin Valentine by Carolyn Mackler. I enjoyed it immensely. But since there might be sex going on (the author leaves this a mystery), I wished a condom would have made at least a cameo appearance.
I have a middle-grade children’s novel coming out on September 1, 2008—Taneesha Never Disparaging. I feel honored to be able to say that the Dali Lama and I have the same publisher, Wisdom Publications—some really terrific people.
In Taneesha Never Disparaging, among other problems, Taneesha, a 5th grader, gets bullied. I’ve working on a sort of sequel for young adults.
Along with internationally respected physician Dr. Linda Bradley of the Cleveland Clinic, I’m the co-author of a teen health book seeking a publisher. Contact our agent, Susan Schulman, for details.

By the way, I painted the picture in ths blog’s header, “10,000 Years and More,” based on a dream I had years ago. And my fingers don’t look as young as the ones typing in the sidebar. -LaVora
